WFN – The Norwegian Neurological Association: Department Visit Program 2019

The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and the Norwegian Neurological Association (NNA) are pleased to renew their partnership to invite two African colleagues to visit St Olav’s Hospital, Trondheim University Hospital.

The NNA was founded in 1920 and has more than 700 members. The NNA represents scientific and professional interests: further education, the interchange of ideas, science and the interests of patients.

The WFN was formed in Brussels in 1957 as an association of national neurological societies. Today WFN represents 122 professional societies in 122 countries in all regions of the world. The mission of the WFN is to foster quality neurology and brain health worldwide, a goal we seek to achieve by promoting global neurological education and training, with the emphasis placed firmly on under-resourced parts of the world.

Project description:

The NNA support the African initiative of the WFN by inviting two African colleagues to visit St Olav’s Hospital, Trondheim University Hospital for a duration of four weeks. The purpose is to experience the Norwegian neurological system in an international environment, meet new colleagues and foster future cooperation.

St Olav’s Hospital is the main hospital in Trondheim, the third largest city in Norway. The Department of Neurology has yearly 1800 admissions and 17000 outpatient consultations. All kinds of neurological diseases are covered by the Department.

Details about support

The Norwegian Neurological Association (NNA) will provide the following support:

  • Travel expenses Africa – Norway – Africa
  • Accommodation for four weeks
  • Living expenses (food and beverage) during the four weeks
  • Costs of health insurance during the stay in Norway

Criteria for applications:

  • The applicant must be a resident of a low or lower-middle income country in the African continent.
  • The applicant must be born after 31 December 1976
  • The applicant must be a qualified neurologist.
